IDOS_ARTS Centre is an acronym that stands for International Digital Open Space (IDOS), Arts (A), Research centre (R), Technology (T), and Sciences (S):

  • Research Centre” is the place where national and international research groups coordinate the study, data collection, valorisation and products dissemination, also through the creation of a community platform; “International” means the global opening, complete and inclusive, of all research conducted in the domain of the performing and visual arts both in the West and in the East;
  • Open Space” means the open, collaborative, equal meeting place between hard and soft sciences, based on the good practices of Open Access, Open Data in application and adherence to the principles of Open Science on the exchange and usability of know-how and the results of the research;
  • Performing Arts Cultural Heritage” is one of the two “intervention sectors” of the Research Centre. It deals with Tangible Cultural Heritage (from the theatrical building to stage sketches, from costumes to posters and programs, from scenic machines and tools to lighting equipment, from photos to video recordings, from borders to scripts, from scores to notations of dance ) and Intangible ones (virtual reconstructions of historical theatrical performances or ancient and modern theatres; digital archives and platforms to catalogue performing arts metadata).
  • Visual Arts Cultural Heritage” is the other “Intervention Sector”. It deals with art forms such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, filmmaking, design, crafts and architecture. Many artistic disciplines such as performing arts, conceptual art, and textile arts also involve aspects of visual arts and arts of other types. Also included within the visual arts are the applied arts such as industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, interior design and decorative art.
