Roberto Basili

Roberto Basili is full Professor in Computer Science at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, where he has carried out research, since the 1990s, on Artificial Intelligence problems, methodologies and technologies in the areas of Machine and Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and in the engineering of AI agents for Distributed Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management. He has been  President of the European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics until January 2025. He is member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA) and among the Founders of the Italian Association for Computational Linguistics (AILC). He is currently coordinating the PhD program in Data Science at the University of Tor Vergata. He is the author of more than 200 publications in scientific journals and International Conference, Proceedings and books with international dissemination, in the area of NLP, Machine Learning as well as their application to Web and Social Networks data. He has also coordinated, as principal investigator, several international research projects funded by the European Community, on the topics of NLP and applications of AI to industrial challenges in the banking, media, tourism and medicine domains.
